May 12th CARW Public Meeting

May 7, 2010

Please join CARW next Wednesday, May 12th, for our monthly public meeting!

This month, the analysis-building, educational portion of our meeting will be in small group conversations – discussing and reflecting on our work. We’ll be using an “open space” format where anyone attending can bring a topic for small group conversation. Please bring your ideas/ questions/ issues regarding anti-racism, allyship, accountability, whiteness, intersectionality, etc. This should be an exciting and engaging evening- hope you can be here!

The second half of our meeting will be devoted to organizing & reflecting in our ongoing ally group projects. We will have a Q&A session for newcomers during this time and at the end there will be many great opportunities to get involved. We hope to see you there!

More Details:

Whether you are currently active in the Coalition of Anti-Racist Whites (CARW) or just wanting to learn more about how to be an anti-racist white ally, please join us! Our regular public meetings are typically held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Cascade People’s Center, so you can mark your calendar for the year.

Each meeting will start with an optional potluck, followed by a brief introduction/opening and then a community- and analysis-building educational activity or discussion. There will be a different topic each month. After a short break, the rest of the meeting will be time for people involved in CARW projects to meet with their teams, make plans, and share important information with the larger group. We have a lot of important ally work happening supporting people of color-led organizations for 2010, so come get involved!

On-site, in-room childcare will be available. If you have any questions please contact Organizing Collective member Sean O’Neil at oneilltsean
